The Summer Sun.

The summer sun shines on your summer smile
The worries of the day do not show on your face
My heart beats fast as if it has run a mile
All the while your attitude shows the joy of His grace

Running and laughing with friends, on a bloody field
A connection slowly forming, sweet moments forming
This day has made much known, who knows what else it may wield
The past lurks, waiting to hurt, but I go on ignoring the warning

Down the sunken road we tramp
We have tower over green blankets deep and wide
My face alight like a brightly lit lamp
For to my joy you are happily by my side

The summer sun shines on your summer smile
Feelings are growing, secretly knowing
Hiding the truth from them, but just for awhile
His blessings showing, overflowing

"Do You Trust Me?"

So I haven't been on here forever, but with school starting and show choir practice I have been way busy. A lot things have been happening. Good and bad. Lately though it feels like more bad then good. Through it all though God has been right there with me. Last Wednesday I stayed home from church and went on a run. It started out as a regular run, but ended in so much more. I had my ipod in blaring, of course, to the song by Tenth Ave. North called Beloved. (Which I've mentioned in a past blog.) Before long I was crying, the lyrics spoke to me so much. Something God has been trying to teach me is to put my trust in Him and not in others or other things. I kept hearing Him ask me, "Do you trust me?" "Do you trust me?" I would run up a hill and feeling like I couldn't make it. He asked me, "Do you trust me to get you up this hill?" Not just a physical hill but different trials in my life. Once up the hill there would a just  a straight stretch of road and I was able to breathe again. He asked, "Do you trust me? Even though everything seems fine right now?" I, we, need to trust him at all times no matter what. I kept running, through another straight, boring stretch of road. It was getting dark and lighting bugs began lighting up. Little lights flickering here and there. Like little glimpses of happiness. Just like when God lets us see the good things that he wants us to want. Godly boyfriends\girlfriends, Godly friends, ect. These things might not last long, a day, a week , a year, even 27 years. We praise him for each minute, each second that He gives us of these precious moments. I ran down a hill, "Do you trust me?" Two deer past me, like friends that flit through our lives, and then either leave reluctantly or leave running because they don't like that we act different because of our own convictions. Or the friends that we have to leave because though we love them, they aren't good for us. At these times we don't look back on them sadly, wishing them back. We move on and look for what God wants us to have, not what we want. Finally, I looked back to see the North Star behind me. Always shining, always in the same spot, even if we don't always see it. Much like God, always ahead of us to guide us in the "night", and He is always watching over us; even if we don't feel like it.  He's always got our backs. So... "Do you trust Him?"

So wow! I've been doing this devotional, by Kelly Minter, on Ruth, and it's been amazing. I strongly recommend that you read it, and there's even a cd by Kelly Minter herself that goes with it. It's called Life, Lose, and Legacy, it has become one of my favorites. <3> Proverbs 19:21 (New International Version)

21 Many are the plans in a man's heart,
but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.

Boots!

So have you been seeing that rain boots are are coming back into style? At first I though, "Hmm not really my thing", but then I saw some of the designs and saw other people wearing them. They really are cute, and so fashionable! They also provide a nice dry place for your jeans and feet when it rains. :) So here's some info about where the style originated from. I'll do stuff like this periodically to keep you informed about the new fashions and their origins. So the rain boots started to come into style in 1817, but they were called the wellington and they were in mens fashions..... Haha to find out more go to http://www.funkyrainboots.com/rainboot-history.html. Enjoy!

Supplies!

Ever since I can remember I have always love school shopping. Yes it means having to go back to school, but for some reason I absolutely love it! Especially, call me weird, school shopping at Target. The new folders, notebooks, pencils, ahhh! I love all of it! Especially cause we, my mom and sister, make a whole day of it, and it's so much fun. So here's a list of what to have for the school.

  • Folders, one for each class would be good. That way you have a good organization during the year
  • Binders
  • Agendas, if you do a sport or something like band or in my case show choir, have an agenda for your classes and one for you extra whatever
  • Pencil pouch, to put in your purse or back pack for pencils of course and other little things
  • Pencils ( duh )
  • Pens
  • Locker shelf, again it's really important to have organization
  • Backpack
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Sticky Tabs, to put in the textbooks to mark where you are
  • Notebooks
  • Hole Puncher, for those loose leaf papers that are really annoying but teachers give us any way
So that's all I can really think of to get you through the school year.  Above are all of my school supplies. The folders and binders are really cool! They have Bible verses on them and they say, "I am and an alien in this world" and "I am not ashamed". My mom and I found them in the least likely place, Walmart, and the first one we found was with the regular black binders. So we looked around then we found the rest of them! It was totally a "God thing". I love when He sends stuff like that! :D

So it's back to school, and that brings a lot of new things. New class, new teachers, sometimes new friends, and new clothes!! Ah clothes! I'll admit I am very much a shopaholic. I love shopping and looking at the clothes. Have you ever seen Confessions of a Shopaholic? Well that's me! Here's a quote from the movie that sums me up, "A man will never love you or treat you as well as a store. If a man doesn't fit, you can't exchange him seven days later for a gorgeous cashmere sweater. And a store always smells good. A store can awaken a want for things you never even knew you needed. And when your fingers first grasp those shiny, new bags... oh yes... oh yes." Yeah I love shopping! So when school comes around I can't wait to go to look for new fall clothes. One thing I've started to do is look at pictures online of what everyone is wearing this fall. Though I'm all for wearing your own style it's always good to make sure you're "in style".So the following are pictures of what people are wearing this fall, and what I myself have gotten for this fall.

Back to Business.

So school is starting back, and that brings us a lot of responsibility. Oh how exciting right? NOT! I actually don't mind school to bad except for the waking up early, doing reports, and waking up early! There's one thing though that we, as Christians, are supposed to do, and that is witness, witness, witness.
During a camp I went to this summer we had chapel every night, and one night we had  a guest speaker. His lesson was all about witnessing, and being the light in this dark world. The verse he used was Isaiah 43:12, "I have declared, and have saved, and I have shown, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God."  That's a huge job!!! Being THE witnesses to tell others about God??  It really hit me hard cause I am not always good at that. Sometimes we make all these excuses not to tell others, "I'm to busy", "I don't want to lose my friends", and the most common, " I'll do it tomorrow".  We sometimes miss out on great chances to talk about God to our friends, and we mostly we miss out on pleasing God. So rather you go to  a Christian school, Catholic, or Public, you always have to keep witnessing!!
After the lesson the speaker gave all of a us all a glow stick. He told us that we couldn't break it until someone told us that we had been a light. So it keeps as wanting and trying to be light in this dark world. So that one day we will be able to break our glow sticks, but most importantly so that one day we will be able to hear God say to us, "Well done my good and faithful servant" So it's time to get back to business.

Read....

So I my mom got this book the other day to go with her Women's ministry. She read the first part to us and I can't wait to read more! Here's the first part that she read, enjoy!

"The Bible compares the tongue to a rudder of a ship and to a bit in the mouth of a horse. Though relatively small, all three of these- the rudder, the bit, and the tongue- have tremendous power. A rudder turns a ship, a bit turns a horse, and our tongue turn our lives in the direction we will go. Your tongue can take you into calm or troubled waters. It can make or break your relationships. Harness the power of navigation to turn you tongue in the right direction."

I'll post more but I just thought it you all would enjoy this. I can't wait to read the rest of it!!

Random

Libraries can be like the DMV, they suck the life out of you. Don't get me wrong I love books, I love looking for books, but being at a library for almost 3 hours!!!! Tell me I'm not the only one that would go crazy?! Thanks.. I knew I wasn't. So here's my tip for today. If you are ever stuck at a library for 3 hours or more! Then make sure you have a book, and try to find something interesting in the nonfiction section. Sometimes you can find old books, or something and be lost for hours. Oh and make sure you have an ipod! Music brightens the darkest of situations. :)

Trials

So the my friend posted on her facebook status this, "In every trial, there is a treasure".  If you, like me, are going through something then I hope you like this status as much as I do. So lets let God show us the treasure through our trials. Cause we wont be able to find it on our own. That's all I have to say today :)

Hey!

So I'm here to tell about what God puts on my heart. I've been through a lot, but I believe He has given me stuff to say. I'm a Christian in a public school and it's really hard. But I'm trying my best to be the salt and light like He has instructed us Christians to be. So that's what I'll be writing, ways to be the salt and light, how hard it is, and of everything else like boys and fashion. :)
